Mason's Master Facility Plan
The new Mason Community Learning Center is designed for 400 students and will quickly become a community focal point. It will be built on an existing city park, bounded on the north by Exchange Street, Beaver Street on the west, and residential property to the south and east. Ball fields and courts slope to the south and east. The design creates an inviting environment. The location, size and look are a perfect fit with the varied residential, light commercial and historic industrial feel of the neighborhood. The ā€œLā€-shaped building includes a main entry located at the southeast corner. The entry atrium links both wings of the building including the two-story classroom wing. Public restrooms, art and music rooms, a media center and multi-purpose room, stage, and gymnasium are located to the south and center of the school allowing mutual use of space as the community center grows and changes. The building is placed in the center of the site for maximum visibility to the surrounding neighborhood and to provide a natural foreground for the building without destroying the openness of the existing park. From Exchange Street, visitors travel past the two-story education wing. This drive provides a bus/drop-off lane and tiered parking. Additional parking for community center functions and school deliveries is located to the south.

Architects
All designs are the work of an architectural firm from one of six firms, which comprise the Akron Architectural Group. AAG architects work with Akron Public Schools architects on each site. The architectural firm designing the Mason Community Learning Center was Braun & Steidl Architects Inc.
